Social Mobility Advocacy
Chris Daw KC uses all available channels to advocate for increased social mobility, in the legal profession and across a range of high performance and lucrative career environments.
Chris uses his own personal experiences, in navigating the challenges of entering a profession steeped in history and - sadly - nepotism, to open the minds of aspiring lawyers, entrepreneurs and professionals, from every kind of background, to the power of self-belief and focus, even in the face of prejudice.
Chris is proud to play a part in the award-winning social mobility programme, run by the international law firm, Browne Jacobson, which has been named the UK's "Employer of the Year for Social Mobility" on several occasions.
Educational Initiatives
For many years, Chris Daw KC has been a panel member of Robert Peston's "Speakers for Schools" charity, which offers speakers from a wide range of careers, to provide inspirational talks and Q & A sessions in some of the most deprived schools in the UK.
Generally focusing on Years 10 to 13, Chris has even made regular speaking appearances at his own secondary school in Milton Keynes, which has been in special measures for many years, due to low academic attainment.
Frequently invited to address assemblies or 6th form groups, Chris provides inspiration, guidance and practical advice for students, from backgrounds where academic achievement and professional careers are often seen as impossible dreams.
One of Chris' proudest moments was receiving an email from a student from his old school, who had attended one of his mentoring sessions 6 years earlier, and who had gone on to complete all the formal stages of his legal training and qualified as a solicitor, very much against the odds.
Of all of the things Chris does; speaking to and mentoring young people, from the most deprived backgrounds, including the care system, is the one thing above all that gives him the greatest sense of achievement, each year.
